When
we're practicing in Virginia, we frequent the "Master
Blasters" field in Chesapeake, near the VA/NC border. Dave
Pearson is constantly making improvements to this facility, with
hyperball, speedball, airball, and an attack & defend field.
The local players are great, and the competition is outstanding.
Both newbies and tourney players are welcome, and games are usually
available for both skill levels. The field is open from approx 0900
- 1600 on Saturdays and Sundays. If you're in Norfolk, come on down
and check it out!
We
also practice at a new field (Sept. 2004) up in Gloucester, Virginia,
called "The
Swamp". The owner, Tommy Du Bose, has built an outstanding
facility, with two regulation 5-man airball fields (capacity for
two more), plus a concept field (combat town) and a five acre woods
field. There is an on-site store and snack bar. And they have both
indoor bathrooms (store) plus portable toilets near the field. The
field is open from 1000 - 1700 on Saturdays and Sundays. If you
don't mind a little driving, then it's definitely worth checking
out.
Another
great "weekend" field, is Action
Town's facility at Ft. Eustis. They have a small store/pro shop,
a sup-air field, and a large woods field. Very organized and well-run,
they occasionally have special events with prizes, etc. Best to
check out their store near Greenbrier for details.
When
it's raining outside, we have played up in Newport News, VA, at
the "Hot
Shots" paintball facility. They have a small, well-run
indoor field.
We
also play frequently at our home base for the Coastal Breakers paintball
team near Camp Lejeune, NC, at Coastal
Paintball. Owned and operated by Bambi Bullard of the Coastal
Breakers teams featured in Action Pursuit Games magazine, they have
an outstanding set-up that ensures maximum play for your time/bucks.
For
vacations in the Shenandoah Valley, we play at Skyline
Paintball. Sue and her staff will be happy to hook you up for
a great day of paintball. And there's a beach nearby if you want
to go for a swim!
