VIRGINIA Military Plates
Of special interest are my personalized war plates. The WW2 plate has CA31 on it: that is the ship that my father served onboard. CA31 was the USS Augusta, a heavy cruiser, that saw action off North Africa, Southern France, Sicily, and Normandy. The Korean War Veteran plate again has dad's ship's hull number on it: the USS Comstock - a landing ship dock. Although my dad served again in Viet Nam, the veteran's plate represents my ship: the USS Kitty Hawk, an attack aircraft carrier. I was a Naval Aviator onboard and flew from its decks in the Gulf of Tonkin in 1970 - 1971. I continued a Naval career and retired with 26 years of service.
